12th Annual Cross Country Meet --- Tuesday, October 5, 2003

at the Mississauga Track Club site. However it's in Adobe
so I have included the info here [except for the course maps.]

Mississauga Track Club 
 
The meet this year is OFSAA sanctioned, therefore ONLY runners
who are OFSAA eligible to run cross country can be entered in 
the meet.

  This meet is the third race in the Foot Tools GOLDEN HORSESHOE X-COUNTRY SERIES. 
	
  Entry deadline is Friday October 1 at 4pm.
  Make cheques payable to Iona C.S.S. The entry fee is
  $5 per runner with a maximum of $200 per school. No refunds
  for cancelled entries. Entries made late will be accepted at $10
  per runner on a limited basis.

  Check-in will be downstairs inside Etobicoke Stadium.
  Teams are encouraged to setup an area for their team to sit
  IN THE STANDS OF THE STADIUM. You will be able to see all 
  the finishes from the stands.
  
  The courses are mainly gravel paths with one good hill per
  lap. The races are set to the OFSAA championship distances. 
  Pin spikes no more than 6mm or flats are recommended. 
  We would like to thank MISSISSAUGA TRACK & FIELD for 
  their support again this year. This support makes our
  event stand out on the race calendar for most of the
  schools and runners in the area. Results for the races will 
  be posted at www.mississaugatrack.org and here ay copps indoor
  as soon as possible after the meet. The race times and 
  distances are shown below:

		Senior Girls  4600m 		12:00 noon
		Midget Boys   4600m		12:30 pm.
		Junior Boys   5900m		 1:00 pm.

Points system for overall championships will be based upon
the top six team placings in each age group.
In the event of a tie the school with the most Senior age
class points will be declared the winner. If there is still
a tie the school with the higher placing Senior Girls team 
will be declared the overall winner.

1st= 13pts 2nd= 11 pts 3rd= 9 pts
4th=  7pts 5th=  5 pts 6th= 3 pts
		
Scoring
1. ATHLETE IDENTIFICATION:
Each runner must wear a sticker provided in your team envelope.
Make sure each runner wears their correct sticker. With the 
pins provided PIN the sticker onto the running shirt just before
the race- DO NOT PEEL IT OFF. 
As a backup in case the sticker is lost write the Bib#
on the runner’s arm using a pen or marker.

2. SCORING: In the chute your runners tags will collected and
entered into the results system. Only the top FOUR (4) runners
qualify for a team score. Computerized results will be posted 
by the stadium office and on the internet as soon as possible 
after each race.

3. BACK-UP FOR THE SCORING SYSTEM: Runners will receive a
place card when they finish. Please hand in an envelop (provided)
with the tags of your top 4 runners to the results room as soon
as possible after the finish of each race to help tabulate
the team scores. A printed list of the competitor numbers will
be provided in your meet package.

4. COURSE: Course maps will be included in the team
package. The courses have been changed a little from last year. 
Please see the course map page for more details. The finish line
is planned to be inside the stadium. Teams should plan to set up 
their home base inside the stadium. Please print the new course 
map from the web site. (Note: maps are not to
scale)

STRAGGLERS: Lapped runners and runners who cannot complete
the course in the 30 minute time will not be recorded in the
results and will not count for team scoring.
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR ATHLETES HAVE TRAINED ENOUGH SO THAT
THEY WILL BE ABLE TO COMPLETE THE COURSE DISTANCES.

The course is marked with directional flags, paint and
markers. In all cases keep the WHITE markers on your 
RIGHT-HAND and the RED markers on your LEFT-HAND side. In 
the case where the makers are on the Left and Right then the runners
will go BETWEEN such markers.

Marshall’s identified by orange bibs will be on the course
to direct the runners.

MEDICAL: Medical Therapists will be on duty near the finish 
line and out on the course. Emergency Medical will be on duty
at the south entrance of the stadium.

MEET RESULTS: Results will be posted near the Stadium Offices 
and at www.mississaugatrack.org or at www.coppsindoor.org

AFTER THE RACES ARE COMPLETED:
Please have your team tidy up their area inside the stadium or
in the park. 

AWARDS (Top 3 teams, top 3 individuals and overall teams will 
be presented inside the Stadium near the Finish line at 3:00 PM.



How to get to Etobicoke Park:

From the West: 
Exit HWY 401 at Renforth Drive South, go to
Centennial Park Gate and turn right.

From the East: 
Exit HWY 401 onto 427 South, get into the
collector lanes immediately and
Exit west onto Holiday Drive, then North on Westmall to
Rathburn, then West (left) on
Rathburn, finally North (right) onto Centennial Park Blvd.

Parking is available on the South and North side of the
Stadium and on the North side of the hockey arena.
